MADS NØRGAARD MINIGUIDE TO THE MONTH OF DECEMBER
’Tis the season. December is upon us with all its glory, chaos and cold feet. This the last month of the year is probably reserved for buying Christmas gifts, finding the perfect tree and so on. But in between all the jolly activities you should allow yourself a bit of relaxation. Here’s our suggestions for December. A couple of them are Christmas related, the rest is not. Happy holidays from all of us.
Copenhagens newest bodega and yet another reason to make the trip to Amager. Whammy is a joint venture between the people behind the record label Crunchy Frog and the seasoned veterans behind Rust in Nørrebro. The bar is in classic 1960’s decor with dimmed lights and plenty of dark wood. Beers are on tab, drinks are strong and wine is supplied by the talented bunch from Vinhanen.

Puglisi Goes Inner City
Former Copenhagener of the Year and worldclass chef, Christian Puglisi, is straying away from his natural habitat in Nørrebro. Puglisi is taking his culinary talents to the innermost of the Inner City as he sets up shop in the department store Illum. The new place is called Rudo and is an Italian restaurant and Vermouth bar combined. Located just next to the new food market Eataly, you can visit one directly from the other.

Yes we Can
No monthly guide without art. And this month we turn to V1 Gallery in the meat packing district where the multi talented sculptor Rose Eken is currently on show. The exhibition derives from Jackson Pollocks collection of paint cans and is aptly named ‘Can’. The artworks are mainly consisting of sculptured paint cans done in Eken’s quirky and playful style, but flanked by a selection of paintings on glass. We know December is too busy for contemplation, but this is too good to miss.

Christmas in Nordvest
Newly opened The Lab Kitchen is celebrating Christmas. For one day in December, the beautiful space on Vermundsgade in outer Østerbro transforms into a Christmas market. Neatly stocked with plenty of gift ideas from the likes of Playtype, Limited Works and many more. The kitchen is open as well and should be reason enough to defy the cold.
