The Botanical Garden
The day we became a couple 12 years ago was a two-part date, with Jens planning the day and May the evening. First stop was the Botanical Garden, where Jens read aloud from Murakami as we lay beneath the temple trees.
When May got her first passport with her correct name and gender shortly after, we threw the old one in the lake right here.
Bringing our parents here when they visit Copenhagen has proven to be a good break from the city.
La Fiorita
During our younger years in Copenhagen, Jens lived in a shared flat on Ahlefeldtsgade, so we'd always head down for pizza at La Fiorita in the summer.
This is, in our opinion, as close as you get to an authentic, unpretentious Italian pizza. The secret lies in the tomato sauce and the charm of the way the pizzas are served.
Ved Stranden 10
We'd have to think long and hard to come up with a better spot to enjoy golden hour with a cold glass of wine than here at Ved Stranden 10. We both love being out and soaking up the city's buzz, and this corner of the hive has just the right honey.
The tourists passing by on the canal tours are always fun to watch. From the embarrassed teenager to the tipsy mother-in-law, they always deliver small, wonderful snapshots along the way.
Bip Bip Bar
By nature, we're both playful and curious. That's why we have plenty of game nights, and we'll never be too old to head down to Bip Bip Bar and battle it out over Mortal Kombat or Tekken 3.
It's also proven to be a healthy way to get the aggression out and laugh about it over a beer afterwards. Jens can get a bit frustrated when May just mashes every button at once, especially when it leads to a win.
