Mads Nørgaard - Copenhagen has in collaboration with the furniture company TAKT created a unique, limited edition version of ‘Cross Chair Tube’.A light and elegant chair made of FSC-certified oak and recycled steel upholstered with Mads Nørgaard - Copenhagen's black and white stripes - produced in textile from Danish Kvadrat. All profits go to the Royal Academy and a project supporting the UN's 12th SDG-goal, which is dedicated to raising awareness within 'responsible consumption and production'.With this project, Mads Nørgaard - Copenhagen and TAKT want to articulate the need for sustainable consumption and production through several angles:
The Mads Nørgaard - Copenhagen variant of Cross Chair Tube is based on an environmentally certified TAKT chair with wood from sustainable forestry and recycled steel. The chair is designed to be repaired and maintained by the user, enabling its lifespan to be extended indefinitely.
The good craftsmanship, which is an essential element in ensuring long-lasting products, is highlighted by the collaboration with special, selected artisans.
Profits are donated to a project at the Royal Academy, where the students will continue to work with new perspectives within sustainable consumption and production - SDGs 12.
To promote the collaboration, five interesting leading artisans have been invited. Each day, the artists are dedicated to occupying Nørgaard Paa Strøget's shop window in the main pedestrian shopping area, Strøget, in central Copenhagen with their art, and will under a common tagline #sitdownandreflect contribute to the importance of daily reflection and the need for good craftsmanship and responsible consumption - it all takes place in week 44.
