THE MADS NØRGAARD MINIGUIDE TO THE MONTH OF JUNE

THE MADS NØRGAARD MINIGUIDE TO THE MONTH OF JUNE

Summer is finally here. And so is the sunshine. This means spending as many waking hours as possible outside. Give the couch a rest and replace it with parks, beaches, benches and sidewalks. And of course, stay hydrated no matter your preference of liquid. And alcohol percentage. That’s pretty much the common denominator in our miniguide to June.

La Banchina
Grab a sweater, hop on your bike and point it in the direction of Refshaleøen. The brilliant Italy-aficionados behind Il Buco at Islands Brygge have set up shop in an old boat shack next to Amass. The name is La Banchina and it’s the place to enjoy a glass of low key wine and a pasta while you dip your toes in the water. A small oasis where we want to watch the sun come up. And go down again. Salute.

Karl William
Summertime equals free sunday concerts at Christiania’s Nemoland. Next artist on deck is the very talented Karl William from Aarhus and his silky smooth voice. Arrive early, spend the entire day at the free haven and spoil yourself at one of the good places to eat. This particular event is just one in a string of many free sunday concerts at Christiania throughout the summer. In short; go to Christiania and chill as much as you can while the weather allows it.

Ordrupgaard Kunstlegeplads
Remember to get out of the city once in a while. Bring your kid, nephew our just your playful self to Ordrupgaard and the museum’s new art playground. The first artist to cater for the kids is the Danish Icelandic super artist and friend of Mads Nørgaard, Olafur Eliasson, with his windborn sculpture that’s shrouds the playground in fog as it moves. Sounds fun. Even to us grown ups.

Gasoline Grill
Allow us to introduce your new favourite burger. The guys at Gasoline Grill in Borgergade are the new burger champs of Copenhagen. At least according to our tastebuds. This no-nonsense burger is exactly as the burger God intended it and we might spend a little to much time in the gasoline fumes this month. If you snooze you loose. Only 100 burgers make it out of the transformed service station every day. Remember to wash away the grease with a tasty Mexican cola.

Freya Dalsjø x Mads Nørgaard
Warm weather calls for lots of cooling dips. Make sure to dress accordingly, for example in our latest swimwear collaboration with Freya Dalsjø. In Copenhagen, we prefer Havnebadet at Islands Brygge, the beach at Svanemøllen or Amager Strandpark – or just to go explore the unlimited swimming spots in the canals and by the harbour where it might/might not be legal to take a swim. Know the rules and don’t be afraid of breaking them. The collection will hit stores and our wesbhop June 8th.

Kunsthal Charlottenborg: Afgang
Afgang is the annual recurring exhibition for graduates from The Royal Danish Academy of Art. This year, 34 promising artists show their best work in Kunsthal Charlottenborg. The works spread across visual media and artistic genres, and an afternoon at Afgang is always an afternoon well spent. We are proud to have been financially supporting Lucas Wichmann Melkane and his graduation project of restauring the balcony at Charlottenborg.
