April has us feeling frisky, so this edition is a little different from the usual. As everything is starting to blossom, we strongly encourage you and everyone else to do the same. Okay, so we managed to sneak in a bit of art even though we promised not to, but this is purely circumstantial. Our friend Frederik Bille Brahe has taken his talents across Nyhavn and into Kunsthal Charlottenborg, combining a one-two punch of eat and art that is hard to compete against. As per usual with Bille Brahe, expect simple, great food at affordable prices evolving around vegetables and seafood. See you there.

The King of Kødbyen
There’s no shortage of great food fairs in Copenhagen, but Kødbyens Mad & Marked may take the prize as our personal favourite. Back from winter hiatus, the popular food market is once again taking over the parking lot in Kødbyen for the fickle foodie to taste the entire world. The first edition of 2017 will be on until 22:00. Fingers crossed the sun decides to join the party.

Setting the Standard
Talk about a power trio: Mikkeller, Claus Meyer and Aaron Dessner of The National are not only bringing a brand new festival to Copenhagen, they are also adding a pop-up bar to the mix. The ambitious joint venture, set in The Standard, is the precursor of the culinary level that is to be expected from Haven Festival as well as a great new spot right on the waterfront. Craft beer, great food, live music and attention to detail is on the menu.

Street Food Japanese style
Japanese food culture is slowly, but surely taking over Copenhagen. The latest addition, joining a long line of great ramen joints, is Kuma in Nørrebro. They are charming the japanophile with okonomiyaki (Japanese style pizza), miso and an authentic version of the yakitori sticks, probably is best known from late night visits to 7-Eleven.

High Culture Vesterbro-style
Beer and Opera is an odd, yet very enticing combination soon to be enjoyed in Absalon, the former Vesterbro church turned community hall. First opera on show is the classic Pagliacci, and on tab is some very modestly priced beer. Entrance is 30 kroner and dresscode is non-existent.

We’re saving the best for last. The aptly named Siciliansk Is, arguably the best of it’s kind, is kicking down the doors to spring and embark on a hopefully long and tasty season. Do not cheat yourself for a scoop or 10 of this silky smooth gelato, good enough to defy the unwritten danish law of ice cream weather. And yes, we’re obviously a bit exited about this one. If you don’t like long lines, we suggest you visit their shop in Christianshavn.
